On the victory of the President-elect, Bola Tinubu, today Friday 26 May, 2023, the Supreme Court will decide on Tinubu’s victory over alleged double nomination by his running mate, Kashim Shettima.
Tinubu is expected to be inaugurated on May 29 as the next Nigerian president, but the decision of the apex court might either make or mar the event.
Recall that the rival party; Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) is seeking the president elect, Tinubu and the Vice-President-elect, Kashim Shettima to be disqualified over alleged double nomination.
The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) claimed the act violated the electoral laws.
PDP pointed out that the President-elect’s party which happened to be the ruling party breached the electoral laws by nominating Shettima as the senatorial candidate for Borno Central and as vice-presidential candidate.
Meanwhile, the anticipated ruling by the appellate Court has aroused some measure of tension among the supporters of Tinubu.
Speaking ahead of the judgement, Chuks Ibegbu, a public affairs analyst, urged Nigerians not to allow themselves to be used in causing mayhem after the apex court ruling.
Ibegbu said the ruling of the Supreme Court should not be a cause for alarm.
