Oprah Winfrey, often known as Oprah;  an American talk show host and television producer has been thrown into mourning with the loss of her father, Vernon Winfrey.

Oprah had surprised her father earlier last week by throwing him a surprise party in Nashville on July 4th, 2022.  The event was tagged ‘Vernon Winfrey Appreciation Day’.

Vernon Winfrey was a coal miner, then purchased a barbershop in the East Nashville area. The barbershop still exists today.  He was also an elected city councilman. 

He started his career as a barber in 1964, which earned him fame as a barber in the East Nashville.

Operah Vernon Winfrey 1933-2022

Less than a week ago we honored my father in his own backyard.

My friend and gospel singer Wintley Phipps saluted him with song.

He FELT the love and with familywith family surrounding his bedside, I had the sacred honor of witnessing the man responsible for my life, take his last breath.

We could feel Peace enter the room at his passing.

That Peace still abides. All is well. Thank you for your prayers and good thoughts 🙏🏾

”

Vernon Winfrey was born in Mississippi to Elmore Winfrey and Beatrice Winfrey
