The Cross River House of Assembly has demanded a thorough investigation into the disappearance of Dorcas Paul Ojong, a National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) member from Cross River State, serving in Anambra State.
On Thursday, July 18, 2024, the assembly passed a resolution urging the Attorney-General of the Federation and the Director-General of NYSC to investigate Ojong’s disappearance.
The resolution followed a motion by Mr. Okon Owuna, the Member Representing Akamkpa 1 constituency.
Owuna informed the house that Ojong, an indigene of Akamkpa Local Government Area and a College of Health Technology, Calabar graduate, was last seen on February 18, 2024, on her way to her primary assignment in Awka.
She was due to complete her service in March but has not been seen since.
Lawmakers expressed concern over Ojong’s disappearance, describing it as worrisome, and called for immediate action to trace her whereabouts.
Her family remains in confusion, trauma, and grief, while the NYSC has yet to take significant steps to find her.
