The Lagos State Government announced plans to ban Danfo and Korope buses along the Lekki-Epe corridor starting October 1, 2024. This move is part of the state’s Bus Reform Initiative aimed at improving public transportation.
Sola Giwa, Special Adviser on Transportation to Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, made the statement on Sunday
He stated that the initiative would introduce mass transit buses for the Lekki-Epe corridor.
He clarified that Danfo and Korope buses meeting Vehicle Inspection Service standards would continue operating as mid-capacity and First Mile Last Mile services, respectively.
Giwa emphasized the need to regulate and integrate the informal transport sector into the state’s Bus Reform Initiative due to the current chaotic bus operations.
He warned that operators violating the regulations would be fined and risk losing their vehicles.
Giwa disclosed that all doubts and concerns has been addressed at the stakeholders’ meeting held on June 27 which led to a signed communique.
